Take A Tour

We offer two different tours for schools during the academic year. Read below to see which tour would best suit your curriculum and how to book a date. Want a tour for your own private group? Read below about how we can customize a private tour to be perfect for you.

  • The Rancho Tour – 45-90 students, 2hrs. $12/student.

Our rancho tour experience takes students back in time to life on a California rancho in the 1880’s where they will learn about the Leonis family, feed and learn the importance of the animals, grind corn and make tortillas, rope a “steer” and meet the vaquero. They will also enter the blacksmith shop and discuss the importance of a blacksmith, make a brand for themselves and pump water from the well. The students will be guided through our period wagons, barn and buildings – most notably the Leonis Adobe, built in 1844, and use problem solving skills to determine how families survived without electricity or running water.

  • The Chumash Village Tour – 3rd grade only, 30-65 students. $12/student.

Our 100 minute tour is a hands-on, interactive learning experience in our Calabasas Creek Park, where students will have the opportunity to experience aspects of Chumash life and gain an understanding of what it was like to grow up as a Chumash. The program consists of a 5-station tour which will include interactive story telling of Chumash myths and legends inside an ‘ap, edible and medicinal plant identification along Calabasas Creek, as well as discussions on the traditional methods of hunting, gathering and fishing. The students will participate in a game of skill that village children would have played, and create a Chumash inspired necklace using natural materials. These are among the program activities.

  • Private Tour - $10/person, 10 person minimum. $50 required as a deposit. 1 hr, timing flexible

Enjoy a private tour that can be customized to meet your needs. Get a guided tour across the property with an inside look into the Adobe, Plummer House, historic barn, and more. When you're done you can browse through our curated gift shop.
